Broadband type: ?

Standard broadband (ADSL) is the most basic, with low top speeds of 8-17Mbps. Speeds are often much lower at busy times of day, or if you live more than 1 mile from the exchange.

Fibre broadband (FTTC / Cable) uses a mix of fibre and copper wiring to deliver a faster, more reliable connection. Most offer top speeds of 76Mbps, while Virgin's cable network can go to 300Mbps.

Fibre-to-home broadband (FTTP) offers the highest speeds by running full-fibre cables right into your property. FTTP is currently only available to a very limited number of households.

Maximum Speed: ?

Broadband speeds are advertised using an 'up to' figure, representing the maximum speeds on a given connection These speeds are available to at least 10% of customers, and are indicated to us by providers.

You may not be able to receive the maximum ‘up to’ speed on your connection. Broadband providers may be able to give you a more accurate indication of the speed you will achieve and this may be different from the speed displayed in the comparison table.

Gigabit broadband at over 1000Mbps is only available on full fibre connections. This connection type is currently available to a very limited number of households in the UK. we recommend you search using your postcode to check availability.

You can choose how the price of each deal is displayed. All prices include line-rental.

Monthly cost is the total cost per month at the beginning of the contract. Some deals will revert to a higher price after an initial offer period.

First year cost is the estimated total cost of the first 12 months on this broadband deal. Comparing first year costs can sometimes give a more accurate idea of how much you will pay overall.
